Monday Made It!

Happy Monday everyone!  I can't believe it is already July 8th.  Where did June go?!?!  I am linking up with 4th Grade Frolics for her wonderful Monday Made It linky party!!
I have been trying to keep my mind off of school and focused on summer vacation but we all know that is nearly impossible!  One of my goals for this summer was to make birthday boxes!  A few of the ladies I work with have used these in the past and I LOVE them!  I think they are adorable and wanted them for my own classroom.  I had a birthday poster set that I bought but I wasn't crazy over it and am on a mission to glamorize my classroom!
I went to Hobby Lobby (one of my favorite places) and was able to get almost everything I needed.  They only had 8 boxes instead of 12 but I was happy to at least get a few so I could start my project!
This is what I needed to buy:
1. 12 Small gift boxes
2. 12 different pieces of scrapbook paper for each month
3. 12 Bows

I also needed...
1. Scissors
2. Tape

Thats all I needed to make these super cute birthday boxes.  I plan on hanging them up in my classroom and adding chevron cupcakes to all the different boxes with my students names and their birthdays on them!  I will also need to put the name of each month on or above the boxes but I haven't decided exactly how I am going to label them yet!

Here is a look at how they came out...

This weekend I also made Number Line Banners that I will hang in my classroom.  Each year we keep track of how many days we have been in school by making a growing number line.  The past few years I have used post-it notes and allowed my calendar helper to write the number and stick the post-it on the number line.  This year I wanted to use a number line that looked like a banner and matched my chevron theme.  I made three different options that I have posted to my TPT store!  I am so excited to watch this cute number line banner grow rather then the post-it notes this upcoming school year!
Here is a peek at what the banners look like :)

I can't wait to see what everyone else has been making!  I always love looking at everyones blogs during this time of year because I get to see all of the cute things being made for everyones classrooms!!
Make sure to head on over to 4th Grade Frolics to check out all of the other Monday Made It!!

Five For Friday!

I feel like I have been missing this week!  My mother in-law has been in town all week and we have been keeping ourselves busy!
Today I am going to link up with  Doodle Bugs Teaching for her five for Friday Linky Party!!!

Number 1:
Cooper River Bridge
If you have ever visited Charleston, South Carolina then I am sure you have seen or heard of the Cooper River Bridge.  Every year they host an annual bridge run which attracts around 40,000 runners and walkers from all around the world.  It is a gorgeous bridge and I am lucky enough to live close enough to it that I can walk/run it whenever I want.  This week my mother in-law and I have been walking the bridge every morning!  It is such a great walk as you are right over the water and the view is beautiful!

Number 2:
Pedicures
Today my mother in-law and I are going to get pedicures because we have a wedding to go to tomorrow afternoon.  This has to be one of my favorite things to do!  I love freshly painted toes.  They always look so much better then if I try to do it myself.  It is such a treat to have you legs massaged and your toes painted perfectly!

Number 3:
Beach!
Wednesday I was lucky enough to spend some time at the beach.  We headed over to the Isle of Palms and spent a few hours relaxing and working on our tans!  I LOVE going to the beach and haven't had a lot of time to go this year even though I only live 15 minutes away!!!  My goal for the rest of the summer is to go at least 2 times a week.  We will see if that happens!

Number 4:
Anniversary!
This weekend my husband and I will be celebrating our one year anniversary!  I cannot believe it has already been one year!  We are going to celebrate by going out to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants 82 Queen.  The food is always amazing and I love the atmosphere especially in their outside courtyard!  I will fill you in more once we go!  I may even put my dress back on just for fun :)

Number 5:
FINISHED!
I have finally finished my common core sight word activities!  I feel like I have been working on these units forever and I have finally finished!  I created 4 separate units which cover each of the 4 9 weeks of Kindergarten high frequency words.  I also combined all 4 of the units into 1 large bundle which can be bought at a discount on my TPT store!  I can't wait to use these activities for morning work and centers!   Head on over to my TPT store if you want to check the units or the bundle out!!

Because I am so happy to have this bundle finished I am going to give away 3 of them for free!  The first 3 people to comment on my post and share something fun they did this week will win a copy of the bundle!  Don't forget to leave your email address :)
I hope everyone else had a wonderful week and I look forward to heading over to Doodle Bugs Teaching to see what everyone else is up to!

Five for Friday!

I can't believe it is Friday already!  I feel like I was just linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching to do my last Five for Friday!  Summer needs to slow down!  Speaking of summer... Happy First Day of Summer everyone!!!!  I hope everyone is enjoying their time off.  I know I am! I haven't had a lot going on this week but I have somehow managed to be busy every day!

Number 1:
Meet Molly...
So last week I filled everyone in on the puppy my husband I found.  Well, we have decided to keep her and name her Molly.  No one claimed a missing dog and she didn't have a microchip or any form of identification so we had no idea where she came from.  She has turned out to be the best puppy!  She follows our other dog around all day and loves to take naps which is great for me!
A few weeks ago we bought a plastic pool hoping our other dog Maizy would use it and of course she won't.  Maizy is a major diva and doesn't like to get wet weather it is raining outside or there is a pool filled with water in our yard.  Molly on the other hand LOVES the pool and doesn't care about the rain!   Their personalities are very different but they get a long great and I think we made a good choice by deciding to keep Molly!

Number 2:
Let the training begin!
About a month ago I signed up for the Disney Wine and Dine half marathon in November.  I am really excited about it but nervous at the same time because I have a lot of work cut out for me!  This week I  started training for the race and realized just how bad I am out of shape :)
I love to run but haven't done much since we moved into our new house back in March!  After going to the gym a few times this week I realized that I need to get serious or I wasn't going to survive the half marathon!!!

Number 3:
My newest units...
I have been working all week on 4 units that are focused around the new Kindergarten common core high frequency words.  The words are broken down into 4 nine week lists and I am making a unit for each of the nine weeks.  I am so excited about these units because they will save me time next year when planning and they will be a huge help for my students. 126 words is a lot of Kindergarteners but I think these units will really help my kids learn all their sight words!
I have made 3 out of the 4 units and have posted them to my TPT store. Once I complete the 4th unit (hopefully by this afternoon) I am going to list them all together in a bundle at a discounted price!  Make sure you head on over to my TPT store to check them out if you are interested :)

Number 4:
Decorating my bedroom!
This week I did a little shopping and found the perfect bedding for my bedroom.  I have been looking for awhile and finally found exactly what I want!  I went to Lowe's yesterday and picked out a few different paint chips for our walls.  I really want to get started this weekend but we will see how my husband feels about that!  I have assigned him the project of making us a new headboard and he doesn't seem very excited about it :)
Here is the pillow that I want to base the color scheme around!

Number 5:
4th of July
Last week I made a 4th of July wreath that I love!  It was so easy and it looks great on our front door.  This week I decided I needed to add a few decorations inside our house in honor of the 4th!  When I was growing up my mom always decorated for every holiday and I loved it.  Now that I have my own house I want to do the same except I don't have children to decorate for.  I tell my husband I decorate for him but we all know I do it for myself because I just can't get enough of it and he really could care less!  I added a few little things to our mantel and I also put out some cute kitchen towels on our oven :)
I still have more to do but that will require shopping which I will have to do while my husband is at work :)

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend and I can't wait to read everyone else's Five for Friday's over at Doodle Bugs Teaching!

Monday Made It!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  I am linking up with 4th Grade Frolics for her Monday Made It! I have 2 things I want to share this week!  1 is for my house and the other is for my classroom!

Number 1
4th of July Wreath
I have been wanting a new wreath for 4th of July but didn't know exactly what I wanted!  I decided to take a trip to Hobby Lobby Thursday to see what I could find.  I found really cute chevron burlap, American flags, an American flag bow, red, white, and blue beads, and a plain wreath made out of twigs.  I took all the materials home and started playing around with all the possibilities.  I finally figured out what I wanted to do and started hot gluing away! This is what the final product looks like!

Number 2
Kindergarten Common Core High Frequency Words Activities
I have already started thinking about next year and how I am going to get my students to learn all 126 common core sight words.  I have made new word wall cards but knew I was in need of some new activities.  I have decided to make 4 different units that will each have different activities for the sight words.  Because the words are broken down into four 9 week units I have decided to make 4 units that will each cover the specific words for each of the 9 weeks.  I am almost done with the first unit which includes the first 9 weeks words.  Hopefully I will have all 4 units completed by the end of this week and added to my TPT store!
Here is a sneak peak!!!

Can't wait to see what everyone else is up to this week!  I always get the best ideas for my classroom and house while looking at everyone's Monday Made It's!!
Don't forget to head on over to 4th Grade Frolics to link up and see what everyone else is up to!

Sunday Funday

This weekend has been fantastic!  My best friend just left this morning to go back to Orlando (BOO) but we had so much fun spending time together and doing what we do best... SHOPPING!  We went to dinner on the water which is always nice and relaxing, we went shopping for our houses, and we also made a 4th of July wreath for my front door which I love!

The biggest news from this weekend is definitely our new furry friend.  On our way home yesterday from running errands I spotted a little black fur ball alone in a field very close to a main road where I live :(
Of course I went into panic mode and made my husband turn around and go back because I had to go see what was going on.  When we got back to the field there was a black puppy all alone and she was scared to death.  Most puppies would run away but this one curled into a ball with her tail between her legs. She was dirty and really hot. It was the saddest thing ever!!!
We obviously had to do something so we went door to door and asked if anyone knew who the puppy belonged to or if they had ever seen her before.  No one knew her or had seen her so we moved on to plan 2.  We brought her to our local Banfield Vet to check for her microchip hoping she belonged to someone!  She didn't end up having a microchip so we basically came to a fork in the road at that point because we wither had to bring her to a shelter or keep her.  As you know I LOVE animals but I was really scared to adopt another dog.  We already have one dog and another one just seemed a little crazy especially because we also have 2 cats.  My husband on the other hand fell in love and literally would not put the puppy down.  She just sat in his lap for what felt like hours and never once tried to leave.  It was the sweetest thing!

My husband convinced me to bring her home and at least see how she did with our other pets.  She has been wonderful and our dog Maizy loves her!  She slept through the night without a sound and has honestly been perfect knock on wood!  My husband says he is going to try and find her owner but I know he is just saying that to keep me calm...  He knows we both won't be able to ever send her to a shelter and her owners are no where to be found.
I am thinking tomorrow we will be heading back to our vet to have her microchipped.

Well I better get back to being productive!  I am currently working on common core sight word activities for all of the Kindergarten high frequency words that I will have to teach my students next year! I am hoping to have them finished for Made it Monday with 4th grade frolics tomorrow... We will see how much I can get accomplished today now that I have a cute puppy running around my house :)

Enjoy your Sunday everyone!
